FRIDAY SET UP – THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM:

Friday came and it was time to start setting up at the biggest and best car show in our land, the Meguiar’s MotorEX. This year being held in Melbourne, at the newly renovated Melbourne Showgrounds. As we have a close relationship with the team behind the scenes of the event we also offered our hands to volunteer over the 3 days to help in any way we could. This managed to keep us VERY busy for 12 hours each day!

MOVIE CARS – THE BIGGEST COLLECTION AUSTRALIA’S SEEN:

A of the stand-out attraction this year was the Movie Car collection on display, it turned out to be the largest display of Movie Car’s that Australia has ever seen, in one location. Everything from the Kingswood from Wold Creek, Supra from the Fast and Furious, Vans from both Scooby Doo and The A-Team – all in one tiny arena! This is not to forget the obvious Mad Max, Batman, Herby and the rest. A great attraction for kids of all ages, including ourselves.

SUPERSTARS – THE TOP SHELF:

For our 911 Group 4 we were lucky to receive a very special spot, right outside the Superstar Arena which held all the … you guessed it … Superstars! These are the top cars, built from the ground up to achieve the top spots at the event. These cars have thousands of hours spent on them, from their underbelly to top coat of paint there isn’t a millimetre of body, component in the engine or anything in-between that isn’t customized, detailed, coated or painted.

SNAP NECK RIDES:

Not all cars at the event are built to that same level, which truth be told is an almost un-driveable level if they are to maintain its condition. In the other arena’s you will find everything from race cars, hot rods, low riders, classic restorations and everything in-between. Individuals and their long lived projects proudly showing off their pride and joy to all the show goers.

PLENTHORA OF CUSTOM:

It’s all in the details and that’s exactly what the Meguiar’s MotorEx is all about – the details. Everywhere you looked there is a touch of custom, no matter your addiction there was a million custom ideas to inspire the mind and soul. From hand pin striping, custom go fast bits and insane hand built engineering masterpieces!

REAL STREET:

Real Street is for the car clubs and show goers who have that something special they want to show. It’s an assortment of real street cars which can be driven daily or driven… never at all. The point is it’s a space that changes through the weekend, both Saturday and Sunday are different and it allows these car clubs and individuals to take part in the event, along with attending the event.

WINNER, WINNER, CHICKEN DINNER:

After a huge weekend there was only one winner and it was X-BOSS, a car which has already made main stream media as Australia’s most custom car. Check out it’s video here. The truth is everyone who took part was a winner, we met so many great people and all of which shared the same passion we have – maybe not for Porsche in particular but for all things on four wheels. We need to thank Bruce, Andrew and the whole team at MotorEx for being so welcoming and helping our road trip to display our 911 Group 4 such a memorable one.
