This week we had the unfortunate case of having to fix someone else’s mistake and even more unfortunate it was a new customer who had to pay for the mistakes of a past supposed fix. IMS Bearings are a common problem with the 986, early 987 and 996, so common that there are many aftermarket remedies to fix them – and yes, they work!
Unfortunately for this ‘fix’ the installation was let down by the bearing being over torqued and in turn the bearing itself being destroyed. Lucky for the owner he caught onto some sounds which were out of the ordinary and brought it in before further damaged was made.
IMS Bearing – do it once, do it right.
