Driving Adventures: The Autohaus Hamilton Tour of the Snowy Mountains

Autohaus Hamilton and Driving Adventures??are very pleased to bring you the inaugural Autohaus Hamilton Tour of the Snowy Mountains.

This coming November we’re piling into our Porsches and heading to the Snowy Mountains to seek adventure on some of the best alpine roads New South Wales has to offer.

Along the way we’ll be winding through picturesque villages and stunning countryside and enjoying some very special cars and company. And, when it comes time to transfer our feet from accelerators and clutches to comfortable couches, we’ll be heading for the warmth, comfort and wonderful food of??Lake Crackenback Resort.

Porsche Driving Adventures

We depart from Autohaus Hamilton on the 3rd of November and will spend the weekend cruising, heading back into Sydney on the 5th of November.

There are limited spots available for the tour and they’ll be allocated on a first-in first-served basis, so be quick if you’d like to join us on this grand adventure!

Bookings close on the 1st of October, 2012, the cost is $495 per person, twin share, including two nights accommodation, cooked breakfast and a detailed road book. A 50% deposit is required. The roads:

?? are all sealed, carry little traffic and wind through breathtaking scenery with corners that are frequent and entertaining.

The accommodation:??is based at the Lake Crackenback Resort. David from Driving Adventures has organised many driving adventures with groups staying here previously and everyone has been delighted with the relaxed comfort and exceptional food.

The resort also offers a range of activities for those who do not feel up to a quick lap of the mountains on Day 2.

The schedule:?? has been planned to be as flexible as possible. Apart from the overnight stops, you can set your own timetable. Follow the route chart through the country roads, take a short cut to the next stop or take time out to sight see or bush walk.

The scenery is spectacular. All the roads we’ll be traveling on have a good sealed surface, traffic is very light and this is an ideal time of year.

The cars:??Bring your favourite Porsche or whatever else you would enjoy for a weekend’s cruising.

The Roads

Day One:??Saturday 3 November

Sydney ??? Lake Crackenback

Leave Autohaus Hamilton and head to Marulan, where we take to the back roads. There are some wonderful roads around the back of Lake George. We then head down the highway to Cooma before exploring more back roads on the way to Jindabyne and Lake Crackenback resort.

Day Two:??Sunday 4 November

We begin with an easy start to the day with a quiet run through Jindabyne, before things liven up on the way to Adaminaby, which is a great place to stop for a break.

We then head west on the Snowy Mountains Highway and head into the National Park and the old goldfields around Kiandra. From there it’s on to an amazing road through the heart of the mountains to Australia???s highest town, Cabramurra, before snaking through valleys and peaks to Khancoban. The last stretch for the day joins the legendary Alpine Way and heads back to Lake Crackenback via a secret spot on the banks of the Murray River.

Day Three: Monday 5 November

Lake Crackenback ??? Sydney

First up this morning there are some wonderful, deserted high country roads through a unique landscape. I am sure you will be impressed with the loop through Dalgety to Cooma onto the Monaro and back to Canberra. Just short of the Capital we head into the amazing Brindabella Ranges.

You can then choose to stay in Canberra for the night of head up the Freeway to home.

The cost: ??$495/head/twin share ($990/couple). This includes all accommodation, cooked breakfast and a detailed road-book so you can find all the best roads. Dave and the Autohaus team will be there to smooth the way and ensure everyone can stay on track.
