Bill Pye had a massive two days at the 2013 Muscle Car Masters over the weekend, securing his maiden race win, and the third win for a Porsche in Touring Car Masters history, in race 2 ahead of championship leader John Bowe.

??hat was the first time we???d run the Porsche in Muscle Car Masters. It took us a while to get it set up properly, remember it???s set up as a rally car and not a circuit racer, but when we did it went really well. The Autohaus Hamilton guys did an excellent job getting it right.??- Bill Pye

With the top 10 positions reversed for the race 2 grid, Pye made a monumental start and before long was able to challenge and pass fellow Porsche driver Greg Keene for the lead.

Race 1 winner John Bowe wouldn???t make it easy, and stormed through from the back of the grid to close to within a second behind Pye in the closing laps. With two to go, Bowe passed Pye and the two-time champion looked set for another race win.

Pye would have none of it, however, and the pair locked themselves in a thrilling duel for victory as they charged to the chequered flag. They swapped the lead four times over those last few laps, with Pye eventually crossing the line first, a few hundredths of a second ahead of Bowe.

??he car has exceptional handling qualities and really shined around Sydney Motorsport Park once we nailed the setup. If someone wanted to turn it into a Touring Car Masters car I think it would be unbeatable!??/i>

??t became only the third Porsche to have won a race in Touring Car Masters, and the only one to have ever won at Eastern Creek or Sydney Motorsport Park. And it???s a road-registered car!??- Bill Pye

Autohaus Hamilton team boss Grant Geelan was thrilled to see such a special car take to the track at Muscle Car Masters, and do so well in expert hands.
