The Museum That Rolls

Porsche has a legacy of building drivers’ cars. It also has one of the most successful motorsport histories of any marque on the planet! So it makes sense that life for a Porsche ‘museum piece’ involves a healthy amount of time at the circuit. The Porsche Museum on Wheels has been rolling around Australia over the last few months, gracing circuits such as Phillip Island, Winton, and Eastern Creek, and bringing with it a fine selection of Porsche’s legendary machines.

The collection cruising Australia at the moment has included a 718 RS60, 908/02, 935 ‘Moby Dick’, and the 962C that won the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1987. They have all hit the track??in celebration of 60 years of Porsche in Australia, and I have been lucky enough to encounter them several times over the last few months.

Enjoy these shots from the 2011 Phillip Island Classic, and last weekend’s Muscle Car Masters at Eastern Creek, and check out the video, which??features some of the legendary 962’s history, and Tomas Mezera reminiscing about his time with it. Good fun!
