Last week saw Challenge Bathurst 2016 take over Mt. Panorama, Australia’s most famous race-track. What is Challenge Bathurst? Well it’s an exclusive opportunity to drive your own street car or track racing car on the famous Mount Panorama Racing Circuit this November. With the most exhilarating 6.2km of bitumen on the planet open for your speeding enjoyment, entrants wouldn’t want to miss their chance to see what motor sport legends rave about.
We had a few customers take part in the amazing event; unfortunately for us Sergio didn’t manage to get up there and take his usual photos BUT thanks to our long term customer, old friend and avid racer Mark he managed to snap a few shots for us. The regularity class had many amateur racers going round and round on the Mount, the desirable time to aim was still a blistering lap meaning most still got to take advantage of everything their car had to offer.
For Mark, Mike and Neville the weekend was set; the Porsches were ready and with the helpful guidance of one of our senior technicians and head engine builder Matt, they were ready to take on the ‘Challenge!’.
Mark in his 997 GT3CS ended up taking 1st place in Regularity Group A and Mike not far behind in his 997.2 GT3 took out 2nd place! What an accomplishment for them both; taking home so very large trophies to put up in the man cave. Neville also preformed fantastically in his Cayman S racer; a fresh build and new to the track meant he was getting used to both the car and track.
Winners are ginners and with no mechanical problems all weekend; it was one of those great motor racing memories. Congrats to Mark, Mike and Neville!
