Porsche 911 Carrera - Sliver Metallic

What were you doing in May of 1976? We one very lucky Australian ( who was living and working in Germany ) went and collected it as a new car! He had a European experience, working, living and more importantly driving there. Autobahns and cheap petrol, driving through Europe, listening to Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody or Elton John's "Don't go breaking my heart"
Un-speed limited motoring, Targa roof off to ABBA's Arrival.

But as all good thing come to an end, the car ( and its owner ) found their way to Australia in the early 80's, where the car was unloaded and went straight into storage for many years.
We first saw the car as it was taken out of storage, almost 5 years ago.

Since then, it has under gone a complete restoration, turning back the years and bringing its condition up to reflect the 50,000kms it has travelled in its life.

The original intention was to convert the car to a right hand drive ( which fortunately never happened ) so is it still the way that Ferry Porsche built it!

Each option have been verified against the factory build sheet and only the question of whether it was supplied with the optional "Carrera" relief decals on the side remains! ( FYI the Decal pack is also included with the car. ) German Number plates are also available.

As one of the rarest production Porsche produced, still as it left the factory, this represents one of the most authentic ways of enjoying Porsche Motoring.

1043 Carrera 3.0 coupes produced worldwide for the 76 model year ( 1473 Carrera 3.0 coupes produced for 77 model year ).
Following on in the footsteps of the 74 and 75 mechanically injected Carrera l s the Carrera 3.0 is equally as rare and lends itself to making a solid investment going forward.
With the advent of the 3.0L 911 Turbo in 1975 Porsche had developed a new engine case to handle the greater stresses of the larger engines. This case was used with the 3.0 L Carrera which solved the problem of breakages and leaks which were so common place with the magnesium 2.7L cases. The 3.0 Carrera was also upgraded to K Jetronic fuel injection, leaving the old MFI fuel systems behind in terms of smoothness and reliability. All in all these changes gave us an engine which produced a very silky 200HP and fantastic torque.

The Carrera 3.0 engine was essentially the Phenomenal 911 Turbo's 2994 cc engine minus the turbocharger. Built before the '911 SC' it has everything the SC has, and more. It's a different drive with more power @200bhp; more torque @188 ft/lb @4200rpm and it was 10% lighter too. It has the 6 bolt flywheel and a crank from the legendary 73 Carrera RS. The 3.0 Carrera would go on to be the basis for all future developed 911's up to 1989 including the 911SC and 3.2 Carrera. Performance numbers for the Carrera 3.0 are astonishingly similar to those of the famed Carrera RS of the early 70's.
Despite a reputation for being a 'tamed-down' version of the original 2.7RS and 2.7 Carreras, The Carrera 3 had almost identical 0-60 and 0-100mph performance figures but was endowed with so much extra torque that it could pull from 25 to 100mph in top gear over 3 seconds faster than either of its production predecessors. The Carrera 3.0 is arguably a better car than the 2.7, even though the latter has the cache of sharing an engine with the RS 2.7 and the older revvy unit made the car more fun to drive.
