DRIVING ADVENTURES: Southern Highlands Tour 2016
Any time is a great time to head into the mountains all it takes is a few degrees drop in temperature and your car always seems to be at it’s best. So we have put together an 800 km 2 day drive taking in some great, empty roads, wonderful scenery, a memorable dinner and very comfortable accommodation.
Saturday we head west to Windsor before taking to the back roads around the foothills of the mountains. We then take the Bells Line of Road over the mountains before tackling some stunning roads on the way to Oberon for lunch. There is more of the same after lunch as we wind our way into Goulburn for the night. Our accommodation includes Dinner and Cooked Breakfast as part of the cost of the tour.
Sunday is all new. There is some new roads south of Goulburn that are uncrowded and wonderful to drive on. They open up a very seeing part of the state that has been hidden to most of us. We wind our way to the coast before running up and down the escarpment on a couple of other roads that have been sealed recently. There is a great lunch stop with sweeping views of the coast before hitting a few old favourite haunts on our way to more little backroads heading back to the Hume Highway for the run home.
